SUMMARY:Polish Jewry: A search for roots
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Join Rabbi Howard Shub for a six-week course\, Polish Jewry: A Search for Roots. For many American Jews\, our roots trace back to Poland—yet how much do we truly know about the history and culture of Polish Jewry? Before the Shoah\, Jews made up about ten percent of Poland’s population\, with entire cities and shtetlach often half—or more—Jewish. Polish Jews flourished as professionals\, artists\, and community leaders. Though nearly 90% were lost in the Holocaust\, today a growing number of Polish Jews are rediscovering their heritage. Join us on a journey through time to explore one of the most vibrant and influential Jewish communities in history. \n VIRTUAL – ZOOM\n Free for B’nai Torah Members\, $36 for guests \n Click here to register\n \n\n Sponsored by the Lilian\, Philip and Gerry Cooperman Academy for Adult Jewish Learning \n\n [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Islamism\, anti colonialism and the anti Israel narrative – Lunch & Learn
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Join Johnathan Ariel Schwartz for a discussion on Islamism\, anti colonialism and the anti Israel narrative: the modern day version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. How Israel and by extension Jews became the whipping boy of the anti colonial narrative\, and how to begin to effectively counter it. \n IN-PERSON and VIRTUAL\n Free for B’nai Torah Members\, $10 Guests \n Click here to register \n\n Born in South Africa\, Jonathan Schwartz (later Ariel) moved to Israel in 1969 after his family fled political exile; his father was a founder of the ANC’s armed wing. Trained in intelligence and disinformation\, he served the ANC before returning to Israel in 1983\, later advising both Israeli and South African governments. Invited back to South Africa by Mandela and De Klerk in 1990\, he contributed to Mandela’s transition team and sensitive back-channel diplomacy that smoothed the transfer of power in 1994. After returning permanently to Israel\, he held senior journalistic roles\, consulted internationally on cognitive warfare\, and published widely on politics\, strategy\, and security. \n [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
